3 Tips for Longer Lasting Tulips

Can we all just take a minute to just enjoy this bouquet?

Be still my heart. It was a special order for Mother’s Day. Beth wanted all the best of spring and I’m in love with it. In fact, my mom saw it and asked me to make her one too!

If you were given tulips this weekend (or gave tulips!) I have THREE TIPS on how to extend their vase life:

1. Place them in the fridge overnight, the flowers will close and then open again in the morning.

2. Keep them out of direct sunlight so the blooms don’t fade.

3. Change the water every other day. This is a simple one you probably already know, but still important!

BONUS TIP – don’t put freshly cut daffodils in a vase with other flowers. And I know I know, I did it in the above arrangement… BUT, daffodils produce a sap that can quickly degrade other flowers. The trick to using them is to either use a special preservative or condition them on their own before using them in an arrangement (in layman’s speak this means cut them to the length you’d like and let them sit by themselves in their own vase for half a day before adding into a mixed bouquet).
